Regulating Controls

Our firm is members of several organizations, which have established our strong code background.

The following is a list of these organizations:

• International Code Council (ICC)
• National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
• U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)
• National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
• American Institute of Architects (AIA)

Working with various communities throughout the United States, we have a formula that provides our firm with a working relationship with the building officials at a local level but also at a state level.

• Meet with the Building Officials during the design development phase to discuss and review the project.
• Meet with the Building Officials during the construction document phase to review the project for potential concerns.
• Submit the project for building permit and resolve any concerns of the Building Officials prior to securing bids from contractors.

This formula creates a working relationship with the Building Officials, which eliminates problems before they can occur.

Fusco, Shaffer & Pappas has extensive experience with accessibility rules and regulations pertaining to the following:

ICC/ANSI 117.1
• ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG)
• Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS)
• Fair Housing Act (FHA)
• Michigan Building Code Chapter 11 (MBC)
